ระบบประสาทส่วนกลาง(the central nervous system หรือ somatic nervous system ) เป็นศูนย์กลางควบคุมการทำงานของร่างกาย  ซึ่งทำงานพร้อมกันทั้งในด้านกลไกและทางเคมีภายใต้อำนาจจิตใจ ซึ่งประกอบด้วยสมองและไขสันหลัง  โดยเส้นประสาทหลายล้านเส้นจากทั่วร่างกายจะส่งข้อมูลในรูปกระแสประสาทออกจากบริเวณศูนย์กลาง มีอวัยวะที่เกี่ยวข้องดังนี้
