สนธิสัญญาแวร์ซายส์ เป็น สนธิสัญญาสันติภาพ (สัญญาพักรบ) ที่ทำขึ้นเมื่อวันที่ 28 มิถุนายน ค.ศ. 1919 ณ พระราชวังแวร์ซายส์ ประเทศฝรั่งเศส ซึ่งเป็นการยุติสงครามระหว่างฝ่ายพันธมิตรและจักรวรรดิเยอรมนี ซึ่งเป็นฝ่ายพ่ายแพ้ในสงครามโลกครั้งที่หนึ่ง สนธิสัญญาดังกล่าวเกิดขึ้นภายหลังช่วงเวลาหกเดือนแห่งการเจรจาสันติภาพที่กรุงปารีส และสิ้นสุดลงที่การทำสนธิสัญญา ผลจากสนธิสัญญาดังกล่าวได้กำหนดให้จักรวรรดิเยอรมนีเดิมกับเหล่าพันธมิตรต้องยินยอมรับผิดในฐานะผู้ก่อสงคราม ภายใต้ข้อตกลงมาตรา 231-248 ประเทศเหล่านั้นต้องถูกปลดอาวุธ จำกัดอาณาเขตดินแดนของผู้แพ้สงคราม รวมไปถึงต้องชดใช้ค่าปฏิกรรมสงครามให้แก่อีกฝ่ายหนึ่งเป็นจำนวนเงินมหาศาล แต่สนธิสัญญาดังกล่าวถูกบ่อนทำลายด้วยเหตุการณ์หลายอย่างที่เกิดขึ้นภายหลังปี ค.ศ. 1922 จนกระทั่งร้ายแรงขึ้นเมื่อคริสต์ทศวรรษ 1930[1] พระราชวังแวร์ซายส์ซึ่งเป็นสถานที่ใช้ลงนามสนธิสัญญาแวร์ซายส์การแก่งแย่งและเป้าหมายที่ขัดแย้งกันเองของฝ่ายพันธมิตรผู้ชนะสงครามทำให้ไม่มีฝ่ายใดพอใจผลการประนีประนอมที่ได้มาเลย ทั้งเยอรมนีก็ไม่ได้รับการปลอบประโลมหรือไมตรีตอบแทนใด ๆ สิ่งที่เกิดขึ้นไม่เพียงส่งผลร้ายต่ออนาคตของเยอรมนี แต่กระทบต่อประเทศต่างๆ ในยุโรป รวมไปถึงโลกทั้งโลกด้วย

พระราชวังแวร์ซายส์  เป็นพระราชวังหลวงแห่งหนึ่งของประเทศฝรั่งเศส ตั้งอยู่ที่ ซึ่งปัจจุบันเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของมหานครปารีส พระราชวังแวร์ซายส์เป็นพระราชวังที่ยิ่งใหญ่และสวยงามแห่งหนึ่งของโลก และนับเป็นหนึ่งในเจ็ดสิ่งมหัศจรรย์ของโลกยุคปัจจุบันด้วย

The Treaty of Versailles was one of the peace treaties at the end of World War I. It ended the state of war between Germany and the Allied Powers. It was signed on 28 June 1919, exactly five years after the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, one of the events that triggered the start of the war. Although the armistice signed on 11 November 1918 ended the actual fighting, it took six months of negotiations at the Paris Peace Conference to conclude the peace treaty. Of the many provisions in the treaty, one of the most important and controversial required Germany and its allies to accept responsibility for causing the war and, under the terms of articles 231-248, to disarm, make substantial territorial concessions and pay reparations to certain countries that had formed the Entente powers. The Treaty was undermined by subsequent events starting as early as 1922 and was widely flouted by the mid-thirties.

A peace treaty is an agreement between two hostile parties, usually countries or governments, that formally ends an armed conflict. It is different from an armistice, which is an agreement to cease hostilities, or a surrender, in which an army agrees to give up arms
