Gerund    -    ทำหน้าที่ Noun - Subject

                                          - object

               -    รูปเหมือน Present Participle ซึ่งทำหน้าที่ adjective

1.    Subject

        Swimming is a good sport.

2.    Object (Verb + v. ing)

        finish, enjoy, avoid, mind, postpone, practise, deny, resent, keep, miss, loathe, suggest,         risk, imagine, appreciate, consider, resist, admit, quit, defer, delay, forgive,prevent,         understand, feel like etc.

            I have just finished typing my paper.

            She enjoys reading English book.

ยังมี phrase or preposition + v. ing

        I'm looking forward to seeing your father.

        She objected to going there.

        I'm opposed to smoking.

        I'm accustomed to working hard.

        I'm used to getting up early.

        I get used to getting up early.

        I can't help thinking of her.

        It's no use waiting for him.

        It's ni good talking to him.

        She keeps on reading that book.

        I go on writing my book.

       Would you mind opening the window?

        Do you mind turning off the radio?

        The book is worth reading.

        He was busy getting ready for the journey.

        How about lending me your book?

        I'm fond of reading.

        I gave up smoking last year.

                                                    etc

    Note

    1.    like + to verb = future action

           like + v. ing   = habit

                        I like to play football.

                        I like playing football.

    2.    remember, forget + to verb = future action.

                                          v. ing   = past action.

                        I must remember to post the letter.

                        I remember seeing it on the table.

    3.    Tom is busy cleaning the car.

    4.    He felt tired, so he stopped working.

           As he was walking to school, he met his friends. Thenn he stopped to play with him.

    5.    The gress needs cutting.

           The grass needs to be cut.

    6.    She had her passport stolen.

           I'll have a carpenter mend the broken chair.

    7.    You ought to get your watch repaired.

           Get her to stay for dinner if you can.

    8.    The pain made him cry out.

           He couldn't make his voice heard.

           He was made to wait for over an hour.

    9.    They allow(permit) swimming in the pool.

           I allow(permit) him to smoke.

           We are allow(permitted) to swim in this lake.

    10.   Verb of sense.

            see, feel, hear, watch, observe, notice + object + Verb, V.ing

           I saw him hit the ball.

           I saw him hitting the ball.

        Phrase or preposition + Verb-ing

            I'm looking forward to seeing your farher.

            She objected to going there.

            I'm opposed to smoking.

            I'm accustomed to working hard.

            I'm used to getting up early.

            I get used to getting up early.

            I can't help thinking of her.

            It's no use waiting for him.

            It's no good talking to him.

            There is no harm in visiting her now.

            I had the pleasure of seeing her.

            She takes pleasure in singing a song.

            I go on writing my book.

            She keeps on reading that book.

            Would you mind opening the window?

            Do you mind turning off the window?

            The book is worth reading.

            He was busy getting ready for the journey.

            I'm in favour of going for a swim.

            I'm against going for a hike.

            Besides mending the radio, he mended the watch.

            The children  have done a lot of swimming recently.

            How about lenting me your book?

            I stayed home instead of going swimming.
